Sebastian Ferrero Foundation
The mission of the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation is to advocate and fundraise for a full service, state-of-the-art children's hospital in Gainesville, Florida while promoting excellence in patient safety and insuring that all families are treated with compassion, courtesy and dignity. The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation started when a family's 3-year old son Sebastian died at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida in October 2007 as a result of a medication overdose. They are partnering with Shands HealthCare and the University of Florida College of Medicine to develop a nationally recognized, comprehensive patient safety program that will be implemented as part of the Sebastian Ferrero Office of Clinical Quality and Safety.

Teach for America
Teach For America aims to end educational inequity. Their mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort. They believe that one day, all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.
Since 1990, Teach for America has grown to include over 20,000 individuals. Currently, over 6,200 members are teaching in 29 urban and rural areas.
Children's Home Society
Children's Home Society delivers a unique spectrum of social services designed to protect children at risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment; to strengthen and stabilize families; to help young people break the cycle of abuse and neglect; and to find safe, loving homes for children. Last year, CHS helped to improve the lives of more than 90,000 children and family members.
With service ranging from Adoption services, fostering children, emergency shelter, family counseling, mentoring and, pregnancy counseling, the CHS aims to serve not only children but families as well.
Peace Corps
The Peace Corps was established in 1961 and its mission has been to fulfill these three main goals:
- Helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women
- Helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served
- Helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans
There are currently over 8,000 volunteers of all ages. These volunteers serve many different countries in many different areas, such as: business development, enviroment, agriculture, Health, information technology, and education/community development.
Early Learning Coalition
The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) is a non profit organizations that promotes high quality care, education programs, and information about resources to the families of children (ages 0-5). They work to ensure that children are ready to enter school and can succeed while doing so. The ELC also provides subsidized child care to help poor families with their child's education.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Florida (BBBS) was established in 1975 and has served thousands of single-parent families within Alachua, Marion and Bradford counties. Their vision is to provide successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, and to contribute to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all. Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships. The BBBS program is one of the most effective methods of preventing delinquency and encouraging positive development of young people.
