Florida Alternative Breaks
Florida Alternative Breaks, or FAB, is a University of Florida student-led organization that sends out service-learning trips based on specific social issues during academic breaks. We believe education, strong direct service, and reflection are among several key components that set the FAB experience apart in terms of growth and impact, both for our participants and the communities we serve.

It Takes a Village: Enriching Families by Empowering Youth
Service Site: 18th Avenue Enrichment Center
Housing Site: St. Augustine Chapel
Access to early care and educational services provides each child with a strong foundation of skills for future success in school and life. An investment in quality, affordable child care is an investment in each family and the entire community allowing parents the flexibility to work or attend school while being confident about their child's well-being. Unfortunately, demand far exceeds supply for high-quality child care, particularly for low income families. The 18th Avenue Enrichment Center continues its 80-year mission to provide exceptional experiences for children and families who might be facing economic and educational hardships through center based and outreach programs. As a volunteer, you will be assisting with child literacy and youth mentorship.
In order to secure your spot, you must also pay your non-refundable $75 deposit. The total trip cost is $145 to be paid when announced.
