How We Can Help
The BCLS strives to support academic programs that engage students in meaningful service activities with local community and nonprofit agencies. We can assist faculty in developing course instruction strategies, implementing service-learning curriculum, facilitating student placement, and providing ongoing support as needed. We provide a variety of resources to point you in the right direction and get the assistance you need.
Our staff will gladly meet with you to go over Service-Learning; what it is, how you can implement it, and ideas for sites. If you would like to set an appointment to have a Service Learning Consultation or a Site Referral please email the CLS at firstname.lastname@example.org
We know that sometimes students can grumble about having to do service as a requirement for the semester, either because they do not see why it is beneficial or because they are lost as to where to start. Let us come in and talk to them about those things. Often times it can be great for them to hear it from someone other than their instructor. We will also assist in facilitating reflection after their service is complete. Visit the Presentation Request section to submit a request about service-learning.
Visit ServeGNV.org or GatorsVolunteer to view a list of different community partners in our area. The BCLS can also provide recommendations on different community partners that could work for your service learning course.
