Wilmot Gardens

Wilmot Gardens is a place located near the UF & Shands Medical plaza. The gardens were once a place where students, faculty and hospital patients were able to walk around and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. Unfortunately over the years Wilmot Gardens was run down due to hurricanes and the Southern pine beetle invasion; nonetheless, volunteers have made it their goal to bring back life to the gardens. The Wilmot Gardens Project goal is to restore the Gardens to a “place that radiates life, love, growth, peace and nature at its’ best.”

If you are interested in volunteering you can work with a group of volunteers that have been putting in their time and effort for more than 6 years to restore these gardens to their original beauty. Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to help restore the Gardens themselves by gardening and clearing overgrown areas in the Garden. Additionally volunteers work to raise funds in support of restoring and maintaining the Gardens. One of the biggest fund-raisers is Wilmot Gardens offering the opportunity to purchase an engraved brick to be laid along one of the many paths within the gardens.
